About PARADISE LOST AND FOUND

Media Release, February 20, 2008 (scroll down to view images of artworks)

Since its inception, Border Crossings magazine has been holding lavish fundraising events, and this year will be no exception. Taking place in the Hotel Fort Garry 7th floor ballrooms, Paradise Lost and Found will delight guests with a scrumptious meal (complete with chocolate fountain), an art auction that, in true Winnipeg fashion, will offer gorgeous works from internationally renowned artists like Guy Maddin, Paul Butler, Wanda Koop, Aganetha Dyck, the Royal Art Lodge, Diana Thorneycroft, Sarah Anne Johnson, Andrew Valko, Don Reichert, Eduardo Aquino & Karen Shanski, Natalka Husar, Noam Gonick & Luis Jacob, Shaun Morin, Mélanie Rocan, Paul Robles, Erica Eyres, Richard Hines and Jason McLean & Mark DeLong at the rock bottom price of $350. The event also features sublime music by Vancouver-based DJ highstrung, so you can let loose and dance the night away.

“The community has always responded in such a positive and generous manner…” says Border Crossings’ editor Meeka Walsh. “Since this marks the beginning of our 27th year of publishing I know the response will be equally enthusiastic - the event has the reputation for being the party of the year, so the evening - as it always is - will be sold out.”

Tickets for this stellar event are $75 (with a $35 tax receipt available) and include dinner, art viewing, art auction, and dancing to cap off a night that will make you feel as if you truly are in paradise.

There are legends in the West, and Border Crossings’ biennial fundraising party is one of them. It is truly a seventh heaven – an exciting and much-anticipated event in the local community and one of the city’s best parties. Who wouldn’t want to be there?

Produced in Winnipeg and edited by Meeka Walsh, Border Crossings is an award – winning quarterly magazine of the arts.
